It is with a full heart and a deep sense of gratitude that we reach out to you today. After more than 50 years of building something truly special together, we are writing to share an important milestone in the story of Bruno Wessel, one that we believe honours the past while opening an exciting new chapter for the future.
We are pleased to announce that Bruno Wessel has been acquired by Martins Industries. This transition represents not a departure from what we have always stood for, but a reaffirmation of it, a commitment to ensuring that the values, the quality and the relationships that have defined Bruno Wessel for generations will continue to flourish under the MARTINS banner.
Our story begins in 1972, when Bruno Wessel, a man of remarkable drive and determination, started selling tire studs and studding equipment in the northeast United States. Born in White Plains, New York, Bruno had begun his working life repairing air-tools but quickly recognized an opportunity in the tire industry and pursued it with everything he had. Within just a few years, what started as a one-man operation had grown into a business serving the entire North American market.
Bruno earned the affectionate nickname “Super Stud” among his customers and peers and he established a top distributor award that, a testament to his lasting influence, is still presented today by the Northwest Tire Dealers Association.

In 1978, Bruno expanded into Canada, opening a branch in London, Ontario. The company continued to grow, adding offices on both sides of the border and broadening its product line to include the Equalizer truck tire inflation system, which became an instant success with major trucking fleets across North America. When Bruno retired, his son Garry stepped forward to carry on his father’s work, honouring the same commitment to quality and service that had defined the company from its very first sale. Bruno Wessel passed away on August 2, 2013, at the age of 81, but his legacy lives on in every product bearing his name. He built this company not just as a business, but as a reflection of his values: hard work, integrity and an unshakeable belief in doing things right.

To each of you, our customers, our suppliers and our partners, we want you to know just how much these decades of collaboration have meant to us. You were not simply transactions on a ledger or names in a database. You were and remain, the foundation upon which this business was built. Your trust, your loyalty and your willingness to grow alongside us through the years is something we hold with the utmost respect and appreciation.
There have been many seasons in this company’s life, moments of challenge and moments of triumph and through all of them, your continued partnership gave us the strength and purpose to carry on. For that, we are sincerely and profoundly grateful.
As part of this transition, Garry Wessel will be stepping into a well-earned retirement. Leading this company has been the honour of his lifetime and he carries with him the love and gratitude of everyone who has been part of the Bruno Wessel family. We wish him every happiness in the chapters ahead.
You will be pleased to know that Marion Nicholson, our Office Manager and Ulrik Westergaard, our Director, will both be continuing in their roles. Their deep knowledge of our products, our processes and most importantly, our people, ensures that the quality of service and the personal attention you have come to expect from Bruno Wessel will remain unchanged.
Marion and Ulrik are committed to supporting you through this transition and beyond and they look forward to continuing the relationships that mean so much to all of us.
